Travetter Hill
Co-Volunteer/ Fundraising Coordinator - I’m 20, and I used to live in the Transitional Housing Plus Program through Five Acres. Due to the state wide budget cuts, I am no longer able to take advantage of this service. Nonetheless, I still want my foster care story to be told, and I am interested in making a change as far as the system is concerned. What I love most about what we do, as teen trainers, is give foster youth world wide a voice and also try to advocate for them. I am the perfect candidate for this job because I can relate to all foster youth. I too will probably always have trust issues; feel lonely, depressed, and mostly confused all the time. It’s just that unlike younger foster youth I have realized that what happened to me is not my fault. There is no way I could have changed the outcome of what I went through. I simply have to accept it and continue to move forward through adult hood. I am currently working part time at a cafe called Perry's Joint, and trying to climb my way to the top as a teen trainer. This experience has really opened my eyes to reality, and how to cope with everyday life and its struggles.
